CAMPS Kickin' Band and Future and Hope Singers

For those of you who may be interested in the “CAMPS Music Ministry,” otherwise known as the “CAMPS Kickin’ Band and the Future and Hope Singers,” here are a few things that you need to know.

Rehearsals are the most important part of preparing the music for CAMPS. In order to praise God with all the beauty that He deserves, it is essential that members of the CAMPS band and singers attend all rehearsals. Being in the music group is a serious commitment, which includes five Sunday evening rehearsals and one Saturday rehearsal (early morning through mid-afternoon). There will also be separate band rehearsals and may be additional vocal parts rehearsals as needed. We felt the need to inform you of the extent of this commitment before the staff retreat, so that you may select your involvement in this and other committees wisely.

At the first “audition” meeting we will learn some new music and then ask each of you to sing a verse of a new song alone or with one other singer. This is not a formal audition. It gives us the opportunity to hear individual voices so that we can choose appropriate singers for each song. Even if you are not comfortable singing lead or parts at a microphone, you are welcome to be part of the chorus. We need everyone, including returning staff, to attend this rehearsal so we can get to know each other better and experience the new dynamic of our group. Each one of you is a most important part of the group. Instrumentalists are also encouraged to attend this meeting, but keep in mind that the focus of the first meeting is on the vocalists.

Most of all, please understand that although the music group is a large commitment, we do have a great deal of fun and, of course, every time we meet we praise God in a very unique and wonderful way. We are, in fact, a prayer group that sings. Your participation in the Future and Hope Singers and the CAMPS Kickin’ Band  is welcomed and encouraged.
